Gradient was the star of the celebrity brand's 2014 relaunch and a halo product ever since for parent company, Million Dollar Baby Co. Designed in partnership with Eric Lin, we set out to use a familiar material in an unexpected way and create a sculptural piece that truly bridged the art-design gap.
MDF and plywood samples were developed with Machine Histories before moving into production in solid maple.
Several 3D surfaces were developed to find the right balance of sculptural form, physical practicality, and manufacturability.
The center panels are removed to transform to a bassinet with its own unique undulations.
