mdb ASSEMBLY CX overhaul, 2019
Led a company-wide OKR to revamp the furniture assembly CX for four brands at Million Dollar Baby.
Instruction manuals had always been a thorn in the side for both our consumers and internal teams. With artwork and assembly steps generated by each individual factory, they lacked a consistent approach and were optimized for the ease of those creating the manual, as opposed to those using it.
Special mention to Yanchi Huang who was dedicated to usability research and the graphic design of the manuals during her Summer internship.
The project broke down into the following KRs:
KR-1: Identify and Solve Top 8 Assembly Problems for Cribs and Dressers
KR-2: Design Visual Templates for 4 Brands
KR-3: Create Graphic Library for Top 10 Confusing Actions
KR-4: Test Assembly of 6 Products with New Manuals
KR-5: Apply Enhancements to 100% of New Items and Prioritized Existing
The bulk of the project’s impact came from improvements within KR-1: Identify and Solve Top 8 Assembly Problems for Cribs and Dressers.
